Scopus A water pumping control system with a programmable logic controller (PLC) and industrial wireless modules for industrial plants-An experimental setup(2011-01-01) Bayindir R.; Cetinceviz Y.This paper describes a water pumping control system that is designed for production plants and implemented in an experimental setup in a laboratory. These plants contain harsh environments in which chemicals, vibrations or moving parts exist that could potentially damage the cabling or wires that are part of the control system. Furthermore, the data has to be transferred over paths that are accessible to the public. The control systems that it uses are a programmable logic controller (PLC) and industrial wireless local area network (IWLAN) technologies. It is implemented by a PLC, an communication processor (CP), two IWLAN modules, and a distributed input/output (I/O) module, as well as the water pump and sensors. Our system communication is based on an Industrial Ethernet and uses the standard Transport Control Protocol/Internet Protocol for parameterisation, configuration and diagnostics. The main function of the PLC is to send a digital signal to the water pump to turn it on or off, based on the tank level, using a pressure transmitter and inputs from limit switches that indicate the level of the water in the tank. This paper aims to provide a convenient solution in process plants where cabling is not possible. It also has lower installation and maintenance cost, provides reliable operation, and robust and flexible construction, suitable for industrial applications. © 2011 ISA. Published by Elsevier Ltd. Internet, mobile communications, and infrared and wireless control systems are often preferred. The control of a direct-current motor (DCM), which has become a part of our daily life, is achieved using a Pocket PC and General Packet Radio Service (GPRS). An Internet-based human-machine interface constitutes an embedded Visual Studio, which includes Windows CE 5.0 software and Smartphone and Pocket PC applications. An application server protocol is created using basic principles of GPRS control or communication system control. Client software is developed, real-Time torque, speed, power, and current of a DCM are monitored, and motor speed control is performed using a monitoring system written in the C# language without using any additional equipment. The proposed system offers the possibility of real-Time monitoring in a cost-effective manner.Scopus BLDC Speed Control by Bidirectional Battery Charger with SEPIC MPPT(2020-10-22) Sehirli E.; Cetinceviz Y.In this paper speed control of brushless DC motor (BLDC) fed by lithium ion battery and photovoltaic energy using SEPIC MPPT with PO algorithm is realized. In order to charge and discharge the battery, bidirectional battery charger is used. Besides, control algorithm of the bidirectional battery charger is based on the condition of both state of charge (SOC) of battery and available PV power. Furthermore, the study is realized under the solar irradiation and ambient temperature changes by simulations. Thanks to the simulation, BLDC speed is shown under reference and torque changes. In addition, SOC of battery, PV power, battery power and load power are measured. The Internet based control system and various fieldbus systems have been designed in order to meet these requirements. This paper describes an Internet based control system with wireless fieldbus communication designed for distributed processes. The system was implemented as an experimental setup in a laboratory. In industrial facilities, the process control layer and the distance connection of the distributed control devices in the lowest levels of the industrial production environment are provided with fieldbus networks. In this paper, the Internet based control system that will be able to meet the system requirements with a new-generation communication structure, which is called wired/wireless hybrid system, has been designed on field level and carried out to cover all sectors of distributed automation, from process control, to distributed input/output (I/O). Web-based remote access to the system and the controlling/monitoring of the process has been provided by using SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition) control. In order to emphasize the effectiveness of this remote laboratory, a conveyor system which is controlled by an asynchronous motor driven by industrial wireless module and in which an optic, an inductive, a magnetic and a capacitive sensor exist has been used. A programmable logic controller (PLC) was used to control the operation of the system. Brushless DC motors are known for their high torque capacity and power density specs which are also suitable for underwater drive trains known as thrusters. Proposed brushless DC motor model having double rotor and double stator structure is basically designed by applying typical design procedure including sizing equations followed by detailed parametric analysis approach and coupled circuit model. Design of a dual-rotor brushless DC thruster having foregoing structure utilizes modular concentrated winding, optimized slot-opening and pole/slot ratio, outer and inner diameter and etc. Main output parameters such as rated torque, rated power, rated speed and total loss parameter of each brushless DC motor for different rotor positions are computed and compared. Also, grid connection of DC bus is achieved by using NPC. Grid connected, islanded, mode operation is investigated for microgrid system. Although such operation is not presented in literature for SMES, this paper examines not only SMES but also Li/Ion, SC. Furthermore, MPPT including P O algorithm through Cuk converter is used for transmission of PV power to dc bus. Moreover, Li/Ion battery, SC and SMES have bidirectional converters separately providing bidirectional power flow. In addition, produced energy by wind, diesel generator units using synchronous generator is transferred to DC bus via buck converter connected to output of the rectifier. Besides, supervisory controller carries out the charge/discharge of battery, SC, power transmission of SMES and enables diesel generator, according to SOC of Li/Ion and SC, PV energy existence, wind speed, grid power. Supervisory controller also realizes load shedding of non-critical loads on the condition of non-existing enough power. Presented system is analyzed for islanded mode and grid connected operation through Matlab/Simulink. Owing to the simulation, SMES, SC, Li/Ion battery, wind, PV, diesel generator and grid power transmissions are presented. Seamless operation of proposed system is achieved, fast transients under few cycles are acquired regarding to operation mode. The specifications such like stack length, skew and magnet offset of PMSG are optimized by using parametric approach including multi-objective design optimization. It describes the methodology to gain required output performance such as output power, load voltage and maximum efficiency of the wind generator. Based on the optimized design, the model has been exposed to some transient coupled-field circuit analyses based on variable wind flow speed under no-load conditions. Relating to this issue, many studies have been achieved to realize optimization and analyze dynamic performance of the designed machines. In this paper, optimization and short/open circuit fault analysis along with transient performance of a designed 0.6 kW radial flux permanent magnet synchronous generator (RFPMSG) for a stand alone wind turbine was studied. The main feature of this study is to use RMxprt dynamic generator model which is linked with the ANSYS Simplorer external circuit simulator. The co-simulation method has been used to analyze the performance of the generator considered for feeding an ohmic load. This method also yields the waveforms of load voltages and load currents for different load and wind speed conditions along with experimental studies.Scopus Speed Control of BLDC by Using Neutrosophic Fuzzy Logic Controller(2021-01-01) Hacat G.; Cetinceviz Y.; Sehirli E.In this study, a control system based on neutrosophic logic is presented for field-oriented control (FOC) based speed control of brushless direct current motor (BLDC). Neutrosophic fuzzy logic controller (NFLC) was created with a fuzzy inference system in Matlab. In addition, to realize speed control of BLDC motor in Simulink environment, NFLC block diagram was created and compared with proportional integral (PI) control. The simulation results show that the BLDC motor speed is successfully and efficiently controlled by a neutrosophic fuzzy logic controller, giving better results than PI controller with respect to steady state error and settling time.Scopus State Estimation of Buck Converter by Using Kalman Filter(2022-01-01) Eker K.; Cetinceviz Y.; Sehirli E.; Erken F.This study presents buck converter modeling and estimation of state variables in noisy and noiseless environments using Kalman Filter. Firstly, the linearized state space model of the buck converter is obtained and the simulation model is created. The output voltage of the buck converter, the state variables of inductor current and capacitor voltage are estimated using the Kalman state observer. The simulations are carried out in the MATLAB/Simulink software environment. Eventually the estimation of the state variables with the Kalman filter has been verified by comparing it with the model of the converter with maximum 7.10%%, minimum 0.0% error regarding to different scenarios.Scopus Transient analysis with coupled field-circuit model and experimental assessment of a PMSG used in small-scale wind turbine for water heating purpose(2019-12-01) Cetinceviz Y.; Sehirli E.; Uygun D.; Ocak C.; Demirel H.This paper introduces the detailed coupled field-circuit analysis including performance characteristics of a 4-kW in-running rotor permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG) used in rural-type small-scale wind turbines for water heating purpose. The content of the work consists of design, analysis, optimization, production and testing processes and validation studies. An integrated 2D electromagnetic field and circuit model are used in the design and analysis processes. The electrical machine design involves complex and time-consuming processes. This model provides comprehensive information on machine behavior under different conditions and is an effective to demonstrate compliance with real load conditions prior to the manufacture. The goal of the optimization process is to find a design that offers cost, manufacturability and efficiency as well as generator output values. For this, a multiobjective optimization approach has been used. Typical design and simulation principles are applied to the designed PMSG, respectively, including calculation and evaluation of various output parameters for different simulated wind speed rates and varying load conditions. Furthermore, the analytical studies related to finite element methods and parametric approaches are presented in collaboration with experimental studies carried out for different load rates.
