Abstract

In this paper, we purpose a web based communication system between a laboratory on server side and students on client side in order to teach students how to use various process control environments in which FieldBus communication systems are widely used to interconnect them. Web-based remote access to the system and the controlling/monitoring of the process has been provided by using SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition) control. In order to emphasize the effectiveness of this remote laboratory, a conveyor system which is controlled by an asynchronous motor driven by industrial wireless module and in which an optic, an inductive, a magnetic and a capacitive sensor exist has been used. A programmable logic controller (PLC) was used to control the operation of the system. SIMATIC MANAGER software inclusive of S7-PLCSIM Simulating Modules for PLC programming and simulating system, WinCC flexible visualization software and Sm@rtService option for web-based remote monitoring and control opportunities have been used. © 2011 Praise Worthy Prize S.r.l. - All rights reserved.
