Abstract

Although countries' disaster risks vary, losses due to disasters increase significantly and pose an obstacle to economic sustainability. To minimize the vulnerability of societies, it is necessary to recognize and evaluate the disaster risks they face and produce solutions to these risks. This is only possible with an effective disaster risk management strategy. Involving society in disaster risk management is critical to establishing an effective policy. Additionally, risk management should be implemented proactively not only before the disaster but also at every stage of the disaster management cycle. The use of technology to manage disaster risks offers great convenience today. Integrating technology into disaster risk management will make significant contributions (such as early warning systems) at every stage of the disaster management cycle (mitigation, preparation, response, and recovery).
