Pubmed Cochlear Synaptopathy Evaluation With Electrocochleography in Patients With Hearing Difficulty in Noise Despite Normal Hearing Levels(2024) Yaşar, M.; Öner, F.; Atalay, F.; Anbar, S.S.Objective: This study examined patients with normal hearing thresholds who had trouble understanding speech in noise. We used electrocochleography (ECochG) to detect and compare SP/AP amplitude area ratios, a potential indicator of cochlear synaptopathy, and investigate speech perception disorder in noise. Methods: The study included 68 people aged between 18 and 65 years, 35 patients and 33 healthy volunteers, who applied to the otorhinolaryngology clinic between November 2023 and March 2024 with a 2-month history of difficulty understanding speech in noisy environments. Everyone was given a tiptrode electrode ECochG test, and the results were compared between groups. An ECochG test was recorded with tiptrode electrodes and was performed on all participants, and the results were compared between groups. Results: In the ECochG test, the summation potential/action potential (SP/AP) amplitude and area ratios of patients who had difficulty understanding speech in a noisy environment were statistically higher than those of the control group. Conclusion: ECochG testing may provide additional evidence to evaluate auditory nerve pathways.TRDizin EVALUATION OF RIVAL PAIRS’ COMPETITIVE ACTIONS: THE CASE OF TURKISH INTERNATIONAL AIRLINE MARKET(2024) Yaşar, M.; Gerede, E.Air transportation is a sector where more than one competitor faces each other in many markets simultaneously, and the competition is experienced based on the route. The study aims to classify the competitive actions performed by 26 airlines in the Turkish international airline market from 2014-2018. The study aims to classify the competitive actions performed by 26 airlines in the Turkish international airline market from 2014-2018. The evaluation of these actions will be conducted in the context of the rival pair. The study aims to classify the competitive actions performed by 26 airlines in the Turkish international airline market from 2014-2018. The study classified competitive actions based on their types and identified the preferred moves of airlines. The results indicate that traditional airlines tend to use schedule-based actions more frequently. Additionally, all airlines tend to use schedule and price-related actions the most. The analysis of the actions between competitors reveals an asymmetry of rivalry among the airlines.Scopus Investigating the Air Travel-Tourism Relationship Using Granger Causality Analysis: The Case of Turkish Destinations(Sciendo, 2024) Yaşar, M.One of the main benefits of air transport is that it allows people to travel quickly from one place to another. This allows people to reach their destinations faster than other modes of transport for purposes such as tourism, business and education. The aim of this study is to investigate the causality relationships between air travel and tourism demand by each market segment. The causality relationship between the number of domestic passengers, international passengers and total number of passengers and the number of domestic tourists, international tourists and total number of tourists is analyzed on a monthly basis for the period 2017-2021 in Turkey with Granger causality analysis. The findings revealed a two-way causal relationship between the number of domestic travelers and the demand for domestic tourism, as well as a two-way relationship between the demand for total travelers and the demand for total tourism. There is a unidirectional causal connection between the demand for inbound tourists and the quantity of international travelers. The research is expected to add to the body of work on the outcomes. It will also have implications for those who make decisions about infrastructure and policy.TRDizin PERIODIC ANALYSIS OF THE COMPETITIVE DYNAMICS OF TURKISH CIVIL AVIATION IN THE 100TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE TURKISH REPUBLIC(2024) Yaşar, M.; Gerede, E.The aim of this study is to evaluate the development of Turkish civil aviation in the context of competitive dynamics. The research divides the 100-year history of the Republic into different periods, taking as milestones the major events affecting Turkish civil aviation. The research was based on archival sources, recent industry reports and supported by an extensive literature review. The results of the research indicate the existence of a small number of factors that constitute the dynamics of competition in Turkish civil aviation, which was still in its developmental stage in the early years of the Turkish Republic. During this period, foreign airlines first tried to enter the market through concessions. In the 1930s, the Turkish Airlines State Management Administration (THY) was established, which later continued its activities under the Turkish Airlines brand, and THY continued to exist on its own, except for small initiatives, until the 1980s. This situation led to the continuation of Turkish civil aviation in a monopolistic structure. With the liberalisation movements of 1983 and 2003, the nature of competition changed, the number of airlines increased and the competitive dynamics of the sector started to develop. The research is important in terms of presenting the competitive dynamics of Turkish civil air transport in a systematic way within the history of the Turkish Republic.
